WHAT I AM EXPECTING AS AN ABM STUDENT

Starting Grade 11 in the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand, I am looking forward to a year filled with new learning experiences and challenges. This year will help me understand the basics of business and prepare me for future studies or careers. Here’s what I expect from this school year:

I’ll be studying subjects that are central to business. In Accounting, I will learn how to keep track of money, prepare financial reports, and understand how businesses manage their finances. This will help me get a grasp of how businesses work and how they keep their financial records in order.

Business Mathematics is another important subject. This class will involve using math to solve business problems. I expect to work on calculations like interest rates, profits, and budgeting. These skills are important because they help businesses make smart financial decisions.

Principles of Marketing will teach me about promoting products and services. I’ll learn how businesses research their markets, develop products, and advertise effectively. This subject will help me understand how businesses attract and keep customers.

In Entrepreneurship, I will explore how to start and run a business. I will work on creating a business plan, finding business opportunities, and learning about the challenges of running a business. This will be a great chance to be creative and think about my own business ideas.

Outside of regular classes, I expect to participate in various projects and activities. We might do case studies where we analyze real business situations and figure out solutions. Group projects will allow me to work with classmates, which is important for developing teamwork skills.

Business simulations and role-playing exercises will give me hands-on experience. These activities will let me practice managing a business and making decisions in a controlled environment. It will help me apply what I learn in class to real-life situations.

This year will also focus on developing important skills. I will need to think critically about business problems and communicate effectively, both in writing and speaking. These skills are essential for success in the business world.

Technology will be an important part of my studies. I’ll use software and tools for accounting and data analysis. Learning to use these tools will be useful for future studies and careers.

I might have opportunities to join business clubs or participate in competitions. These extracurricular activities will help me connect with others who share my interests and provide additional learning experiences.

This school year as a Grade 11 ABM student will be full of opportunities to learn and grow. With subjects that cover business basics, practical projects, and skills development, I am excited to see how this year will prepare me for future challenges and goals.
